2007 Land Rover LR3 SE

Posted: Thu. Nov. 21 11:40:56 2019

My family bought our LR3 in 2010 with 27,000 miles on it. We knew that we were taking a risk on the reliability and longevity of the car but the way it drove was amazing. 9 years later, this car just rolled over 200,000 miles and has been the most reliable car we have ever owned and still drives great. While it is reliable, the maintenance is pretty expensive (tires brakes etc) but since we do most of the work ourselves it's not too bad. The engine and transmission have never required a repair. So far, the only two things that have actually broken are the air compressor, the front differential, and the rear trunk latch. Everything else has been wear items such as a wheel bearing. Since this is such a big car, I'm honestly surprised how well everything has held up.

By no means is this a sporty car, but the handling is surprisingly competent. The HK sound system is really nice, the seats are really comfortable, the air conditioning and heat work great, transmission and engine are both super smooth after all these miles, even though we have almost always used regular octane gas. It blows me away how well this thing has held up.

My whole family agrees that we are never going to sell this thing. The resale value is so low, that it's just not worth getting rid of. You can buy these vehicles for a steal, just make sure you find one that was well maintained.
